January 2017

Christ is born in Bethlehem. The destructive, deceptive and accusatory schemes of the Serpent (Revelation 12) have been overcome. A Savior, the Prince of Peace has come.

This past summer we supported twenty-five young leaders to join with thirty-five young Syrian refugees in a week-long peace building leadership training program near the conflict zone. The ongoing impact of that program has birthed five more programs in conflict zones this next year with partners from around the world. Feel free to contact your local Mission Mobilizer to learn more.

If the Gospel is a house that we are inviting others to enter, then peace is the door – and there is a long line-up outside. Other doors include forgiveness, healing, freedom and the various other ways that Jesus communicated this Gospel of his kingdom (Luke 4:18-19). Jesus himself is our peace, our forgiveness, our healing, our freedom and every other transformational aspect of the Gospel. He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).

The world is being reminded of our collective failure to bring peace to the Middle East and to every other conflict today. We need the Prince of Peace as never before. Let’s live as peacemakers this year as we live and proclaim the Good News.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray that peace of Jesus would continue to be an effective door for many to experience the Gospel. Please pray specifically for our MB Mission workers living and serving in areas of conflict, that their lives would be marked by the peace they have found in Jesus, and that they would have many opportunities to share the Gospel as a result.
  • Pray for the two Multiply conferences we are organizing together with C2C. These are happening Feb 8-9 in Vancouver, BC, and Feb 22-23 in Fresno, CA. All are invited, and we are excited to see God move at these events. If you are a ministry leader, please take some time to consider whether God may be inviting you to attend this equipping event. Registration and more info can be found through the Multiply link below.

Physical slavery is prevalent around the world; it takes many forms. Individuals and people groups are in bondage. Guest speaker, Randy Friesen has seen the amazing power of the Gospel to bring freedom to the oppressed. In our own lives, we can find ourselves enslaved – to sin and to fear. How can we be free? Knowing who we are in Christ is vital to our freedom.
