A year ago, in response to a request from our US MB Conference for resourcing and investment in church planting, I shared the “big idea” of bringing together the North American and global church-planting ministries of the Mennonite Brethren Church into a single team with shared resources, personnel and best practices.

My dear friend and former MB Mission board member, Lowell Stutzman, died in his sleep this past week of a heart attack.

There are currently thousands of Syrian refugees entering cities around the world. In one Canadian city, there are 120 families temporarily housed in several hotels and homes.

This past week I accompanied a group of church planters from North America to Thailand where we spent ten days with Burmese and Khmu pastors sharing stories and strengthening our commitment to the kingdom DNA of faith, hope and love in our lives and ministries.

Physical slavery is prevalent around the world; it takes many forms. Individuals and people groups are in bondage. Guest speaker, Randy Friesen has seen the amazing power of the Gospel to bring freedom to the oppressed. In our own lives, we can find ourselves enslaved – to sin and to fear. How can we be free? Knowing who we are in Christ is vital to our freedom.
